Old Friends; New Songs

Lately I've been spending some time locked up in dark places with my friend Paul Christensen. We've mostly been drinking cheap beer and cooking whatever we can find in our respective refrigerators. While Paul is a great cook and a really handsome dude, he's also one of my all time favorite musicians. You can see him perform with Weinland and sometimes with Rachel Blumberg's new band, Arch Cape.

Paul and I have crafted a few new songs and we have decided to debut this material in Chehalis, WA. Why? Well, Chehalis is exactly halfway between Seattle and Portland and we wanted to try this stuff out far away from major metropolitan areas. Ya know, in case something blows up.

Sonic Sitka Project

I'm proud to announce that I'll be spending some time in Florida later this month participating in the Newport Guitar Festival. While this won't be my first trip the Newport Guitar Festival, it will undoubtedly be the most interesting.

This year, I will be helping my dear friend, Denis Merrill with the Sonic Sitka Project. This project is designed to further the conversation about the acoustic guitar by gathering data on instruments built from the same materials. You can read all about it at guitarbench.com

I'm looking forward to spending next week documenting the sounds of these incredible new instruments. Stay tuned for updates, photos and even some soundbites from the show.

In other news:

Friday Mile is gearing up for a few dates this spring.

I will also be making a few solo appearances in the coming months. Last month's show at Seattle's new Hard Rock Cafe was a great success. Thanks for coming and get ready for more new songs and maybe even some music from a couple of new endeavors. Keep your eyes here for updates or visit me on myspace.
